It is the intent of the Boards of Directors to protect the privacy of our members, customers, staff, and others that engage in interactions with NC One Water (NC AWWA and NC WEA) (collectively referred to as stakeholders). We recognize the need for appropriate protection of stakeholder’s name, postal address, telephone number, email address, credit card information, and other information that you voluntarily share with us.

When stakeholders use our website, association management system, or register for events, they acknowledge acceptance of this Privacy Policy.

2. Procedure

How We Collect Information
When you interact with NC One Water, we ask you to voluntarily provide certain personal information. We use this information to understand and better serve the interests and needs of our stakeholders. If you choose not to provide the information requested, you may be unable to access and use certain services and content on our website or receive information we believe will be of interest to you.

We use information collected to improve experiences through use of our website, provide access to services, provide information to sponsors and exhibitors, and provide information to third parties.

Information Shared At Sponsored Events
NC One Water shares contact information for event attendees with sponsors, exhibitors and other event attendees. This information includes name, company, and postal address. Attendees will be provided an opportunity to Opt Out of sharing their information.

Information Utilized by Third Parties
NC One Water uses carefully selected third parties to provide certain services, including but not limited to support for activities such as payment processing, event registration, and broadcast email services. In connection with these services, we may share your information with these third parties. These third parties may collect certain personal information such as name, postal address, telephone number, email address, and interests. Although we endeavor to select only reputable companies that share our commitment to user privacy, we are in no way responsible for the actions or policies of these third parties.

In certain instances, we may disclose personal information when we have reason to believe it is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against persons or entities that may be causing injury to you, us, or others; as necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process; or to establish or exercise NC One Water’s legal rights or defend against legal claims, or as otherwise required by law.

NC One Water does not disclose credit or debit card information provided by members or customers. When members and customers choose to pay using a credit or debit card, that information is processed through a third-party clearinghouse using appropriate security processes and data encryption. Member and customer credit and debit card information is not stored or maintained by NC One Water.

NC One Water uses tools such as Google Analytics to collect information about our website. Google Analytics collects anonymous information such as how often users visit our site, what pages are visited and what other sites they used prior to coming to our site. We use the information from Google Analytics to improve our website. Google’s use of information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is governed by the Google Analytics Terms of Use and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser.

Our website contains links to third-party websites that are provided for your convenience. We do not endorse nor are we responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites.

Opting Out/In
NC One Water recognizes that members and customers may wish to limit NC One Water 's use of personal information, and that this decision may occur after such information is provided to NC One Water, via our website or otherwise. To that end, members and customers may access this website and voluntarily update their account information at any time, including selecting communication preferences. Members and customers may also contact the NC One Water office to update communication preferences.

Opting out of such communications can affect your receiving or learning about benefits of membership, receiving information and offers we believe will be of interest to you, and interacting with NC One Water.

To prevent unauthorized access to website users' personal information, we have put in place commercially reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial measures to safeguard and secure the information we collect through our website. NC AWWA AND NC WEA HEREBY DISCLAIM ANY GUARANTEE AND ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND WHATSOEVER. NC ONE WATER MAKES NO GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY REGARDING THE OPERATION OR PERFORMANCE OF ANY SECURITY MEASURE OR DEVICE INSTALLED ON ITS WEBSITE OR USED IN PROCESSING ONLINE TRANSACTIONS OR THAT ALL DATA WILL REMAIN COMPLETE, ACCURATE, SECURE, OR INTACT. IF YOU BECOME AWARE OF A SECURITY BREACH OR THAT THE SECRECY OF YOUR ACCESS LOGINS HAVE BECOME COMPROMISED, PLEASE NOTIFY NC ONE WATER PROMPTLY BY CONTACTING THE NC ONE WATER OFFICE, AND NC ONE WATER WILL ENDEAVOR TO CONTAIN THE ADVERSE IMPACT OF SUCH COMPROMISE. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU MAINTAIN BACKUP OF YOUR OWN DATA AND INFORMATION AS NC ONE WATER MAKES NO ASSURANCES AS TO THEIR ONGOING AVAILABILITY OR ACCURACY. THE FOREGOING STATES THE ENTIRE LIABILITY AND OBLIGATION OF NC ONE WATER WITH RESPECT TO DATA THEFT OR CORRUPTION.

GDPR Compliance
By adopting this Policy, NC One Water intends to abide by all potentially applicable laws, including but not limited to the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), for all visitors to the Site. By so complying, NC One Water does not mean to confirm that NC AWWA or NC WEA, each a North Carolina corporation with its headquarters in Raleigh and no offices in the European Economic Area, is legally bound by the GDPR.  Even if the GDPR does legally bind NC One Water, new state or federal laws in the United States may supersede the GDPR in the future. NC One Water reserves the right to change this Policy and its privacy practices to comply with such applicable laws, which may not be consistent with the GDPR.
