The Model Water Tower Competition is for elementary and middle school students. Each individual or team of up to four students will design and build a functioning model water tower that is structurally efficient, holds water, and that can be filled and drained quickly, while also being aesthetically pleasing.
The towers are judged based upon hydraulic efficiency, cost efficiency, structural efficiency and design ingenuity. The first, second and third place teams in each division will be awarded cash prizes and trophies.
The 4th Annual Charlotte Model Water Tower Competition will be held as follows:
o When: Saturday, May 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In each division (elementary and middle school), the first three teams in each division will be awarded a cash prize. A separate “People’s Choice” prize will also be awarded.
o Time: Check-in between 8:30 am and 9:00 am
o Where: Discovery Place, 301 N. Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28202 (see attached map)
o Who: Elementary (4th and 5th grades) and Middle School Students (individuals or teams of up to 4)
o Registration deadline: Friday, May 4th.
Prizes
First place $300, Second place $200, and Third place $100 will be awarded at the competition.
