Professional Wastewater Operators Community

What We Do:

The PWWOC will focus on maximizing the access to training opportunities for all North Carolina water professionals, but especially wastewater treatment and collection systems operations, maintenance, laboratory, pretreatment, and administrative personnel, in their efforts in professional and career development; knowledge and skills development and enhancement; attaining and maintaining wastewater-related certifications through continuing education (CEUs) and professional development hours (PDHs).  Due to this connection to the wastewater operator certification process, collaboration, alliance, and coordination with regulators (WPCSOCC; NCDEQ) and NC One Water’s schools’ workgroups is anticipated.

Why Join Us:

The target audience is primarily but not limited to North Carolina’s wastewater treatment and collection systems operations, maintenance, laboratory, pretreatment, and administrative personnel already certified or seeking wastewater system operation certification.  Other entities which may be interested in delivering and receiving the PWWOC’s training offerings include engineers, scientists, and other consultants allied to the water profession; educators; process equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and representatives; regulators; and others.
Have questions or ideas? Please contact Ken Vogt  (Chair).

Purpose:

  • Work to expose wastewater professionals to training opportunities in proximity to work and home in support of their career/professional development needs, interacting with other wastewater professionals, and recognizing the value of their wastewater treatment knowledge and experience contributions to the health of their community and the environment
  • Work to always develop & improve our collective knowledge, skills and good professional ethics.
  • Willingly share what I’ve learned with other professionals, and remain open to learn from their experiences.
  • Always make the most effective use of all of my facilities and my employer’s resources.
  • Continually strive to protect the public health, the environment, and all of our natural resources.
  • Members of the PWWOC actively support the committee’s network of wastewater treatment plant operation, maintenance, laboratory, pretreatment, administrative, and other plant professionals.

Volunteer Opportunities:

It's already been described who we are and what we do. Perhaps you've already attended or plan to attend a PWWOC training event, were impressed by its quality, and appreciate and take advantage of the benefit and value of this training to your immediate and long term career and professional development as wastewater professionals. As you might guess, these training events don't happen by themselves and by chance; they are arranged and coordinated through many dedicated NC1W staff and volunteers. You might find yourself interested in contributing/assuming a greater leadership role within NC1W, its many activities, and, in particular, its PWWOC. If so, please don't hesitate to contact any of the PWWOC's leadership listed here to discuss your interest in further detail. Or click here to submit a volunteer interest form.
