The next Central Section of the Professional Wastewater Operators Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2018, and hosted by the Reidsville WWTP in Reidsville, NC. This is an open meeting, and you do not have to be a member to attend. Everyone is welcome. There will also be a gift card given to one lucky attendee, so don’t miss out! Technical Session
The technical session is titled, “Challenges in Biological Nutrient Removal at City of Reidsville WWTP”. This presentation will discuss the challenges of implementing a new system in order to achieve optimum results. The total nitrogen and total phosphorus removal rates have drastically declined since implementing the upgrade.
The presentation will be made by Ben Bani, City of Reidsville WWTP Superintendent.

The Reidsville WWTP is permitted for 7.5 MGD with an average flow rate of 2.4 MDG and 46% of its influent is Industrial Wastewater. The treatment process is comprised of Bar Screens, Vortex Grit Remover, Extended Aeration Activated Sludge, Secondary Clarifiers, Tertiary Filtration, and Chlorination/De-Chlorination.
