Purpose:
AWWA Cybersecurity Guidance Tool Workshop
- This workshop will provide water and wastewater utility staff education, guidance, and examples of how to use the AWWA Cybersecurity Guidance Tool.
- The AWWA Process Control System Security Guidance and Cybersecurity Guidance Tool provide utilities in the Water Sector with the ability to quickly review their control system architecture and use against national standards, guidelines, and best practices for the secure operation of their control systems and technology assets.
- The target audience for this workshop is water and wastewater utility staff that are responsible for oversight and management of SCADA and processes control systems including personnel from Operations, Engineering, Security, Resiliency, Information Technology, and Senior Management.
- Benefits of the Cybersecurity Guidance Tool include the following:
- Provides a consistent and repeatable recommended course of action to reduce vulnerabilities in process control systems
- Developed by a Subject Matter Expert panel of utility representatives, vendors, consultants, federal agencies
- Aligns with Water Sector and national priorities
- Fulfills the need for sector-specific guidance as specified in EO 13636
- Consistent with NIST Framework and compliant with the requirements of DHS
The workshop will include teaching elements, group exercises, hands on training in the use of the Cybersecurity Guidance Tool, and knowledge exams. Individuals that complete this course will receive six (6) Professional Development Hours (PDHs) or a corresponding numbers of CEU credits.
