Course Description:
Level 1, Journeyman I
Collection/Distribution Ladder
Environmental Awareness (2.0 hours)
Constructing, maintaining, and repairing collection and distribution infrastructure requires technical skills and a knowledge of rules and regulations. The regulations regarding work in wetlands, streams, and stream buffer areas are specialized to protect those fragile ecosystems. This class will cover the regulations that apply to these locations, and help the student determine the steps to proceed with their task. Requirements for permits, maximum areas disturbed, permanent vs temporary incursions, and restoration will be discussed. A field component will be included to demonstrate some of the material presented in the classroom.
