Achieving Compliance with the America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 Seminar

Thursday July 18, 2019

Springhill Suites, Cary NC

Purpose:

This seminar will help participants understand the risk and resilience requirements of the America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 (AWIA), as well as tools, resources, and strategies for achieving compliance. The seminar is based upon the national AWWA Utility Risk and Resilience Certificate Program and will present best practices for security, preparedness, and risk and resilience management.  Much of the seminar will focus upon the use of AWWA consensus standards and guidance documents such as G430, J100, G440, and M19 that can be used to achieve AWIA compliance.

This 6-hour seminar will be comprised of 5 modules:

·        Regulatory Background

·        G430-14, Security Practices for Operation and Management

·        J100, Risk and Resilience Management of Water and Wastewater Systems

·        G440-17, Emergency Preparedness Practices and M19, Emergency Planning for Water and Wastewater Utilities

·        Compliance Strategies

Achieving water utility resilience and emergency preparedness should not be the responsibility of a single person, but rather an organizational culture shift championed by senior management and implemented by staff at all levels of the utility organization.  Appropriately, this seminar is designed for utility managers and staff from engineering, treatment, distribution, operations, maintenance, emergency management, security, and safety.
