Piedmont GROW: Muddy Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Tour - Winston-Salem

Muddy Creek WWTP has been operating since 1986 with a 21 MGD capacity. Treated effluent is discharged into the Yadkin River. This activated-sludge treatment facility includes a methane collection and cogeneration system that exports power to the electric grid. Improvements in 2022 included a new consolidated headworks and transfer pump station, which transfers excess raw wastewater to the Archie Elledge WWTP for treatment. Plant management will host a bus tour of this WSFC Utilities wastewater treatment plant, with stops at key locations in the process.
