CD Systems Presentation: Design Thinking Practice in the Water Industry Location: Virtual only Time: 11 a.m. EST Registration Closes: 1/21/2026 Course Description: Traditional approaches to problem solving are often not up to the task when applying to wicked problems that water utilities currently face. Hydroclimate variability, legacy infrastructure issues, new regulations dealing with emerging contaminants, and an aging workforce are just some of the challenges utility managers are facing today. What is needed is a flexible, adaptable, and user focused approach that design thinking allows. Design thinking is an iterative process that allows for incremental changes based on feedback from users. Users can be internal or external, and the feedback provided allows the agency to constantly make tweaks that improves a process, product, or design. Design thinking has been utilized in the private sector for over 20 years. In the past five years, public agencies from across the spectrum have started to adopt design thinking. This presentation will focus on how water agencies can use design thinking concepts in the operations, designs, and products used. Event Pricing: - CEU/PDH Credit Needed, $10
