Self-management skills are personal attributes that enhance interpersonal interactions, job performance, and career prospects at any level. In the workplace, these “people” skills are considered a complement to occupational skills and technical knowledge. These skills are more critical than ever as organizations struggle to find meaningful ways to be more productive and efficient. To be a truly valuable employee, it’s just not enough to be highly trained in technical areas without developing interpersonal and relationship building skills that help people to communicate and collaborate effectively. The Foundations of Leadership: Effective Self-Management Course is designed to teach the fundamentals of leadership and effective workplace conduct. The course will include discussion of professionalism/ethics, integrity, dependability, and teamwork. The course provides utility personnel with tools to enhance workplace relationships, improve collaboration, and assess self-development opportunities.
