The next Central Section of the Professional Wastewater Operators Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016, and hosted by the Town of Siler City. This is an open meeting, and you do not have to be a member to attend. Everyone is welcome. There will also be a gift card given to one lucky attendee, so don’t miss out.

Technical Session
Linnell Stanhope with Crowder Construction will be doing a presentation on The Changing Landscape for Project Procurement. In this program, you will hear about the current trends in project procurement and how that impacts operations. You will get answers to questions, such as:
- How does Design-Build impact operations?
- What is BIM and how does it affect me?
- How does early integration of a contractor create better solutions?
- Does “collaboration” mean I get what I want as the end user?
Plant Tour
Siler City Wastewater Treatment Plant

Siler City, North Carolina
The Town of Siler City is an extended aeration plant consisting of Oxidation Ditches, secondary clarifiers, Greenleaf filters, and chlorine disinfection with biosolids being land applied. It is permitted for 4MGD with an average flow of 1.8MGD. It is operated 24/7 and staffed by a superintendent, a chemist, one maintenance mechanic and four operators. Currently there is only one SIU.

Two contact hours for wastewater operators will be awarded to those attendees who participate in the Technical Session and the Tour (partial credit will not be given).
