The City of Granite Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant is a 0.9 MGD oxidation ditch system plant. Originally constructed in 1969, the plant implements a secondary biological process utilizing activated sludge treatment consisting of:
· Grit removal
· Screening
· Aerated oxidation ditches
· Secondary clarifiers
· Chlorination
· Dechlorination
· Aerobic digesting of waste solids that are lime stabilized for vector and pathogen reduction and applied as class AB biosolids.
The presentation will discuss the upgrades being made to the plant that include a new mechanical bar screen, grit system improvements, liquid lime feed system, automatic proportioning valve to pace chlorine feed, new chemical feed system for dechlorination, rehabilitation of the existing aerobic sludge digestion tank and the installation of a new aerobic sludge stabilization tank. In addition, the presentation will address the challenges of securing funding for this project. Clarence Lockamy, PE, PLS with The Wooten Company will present.

From I-40
· Take exit 123 to merge onto US 321 N
· Follow US 321 N for 5 miles
· Turn left onto US 321 Alt N/S Main Street
· After 2.5 miles, turn left onto Central Avenue and then make an immediate left turn onto Duke Street
· Granite Falls Brewing is on the left
DIRECTIONS TO GRANITE FALLS TOWN HALL
· Turn left on Duke Street toward Central Avenue
· Turn Right on Central Avenue
· Turn Left on S. Main Street
· The Council Chambers can be accessed from the door located on the side of the building next to Stephens Restaurant
· Parking is available along the street near the entrance and additional parking is located down South Main Street next to the library.
DIRECTIONS TO GRANITE FALLS WWTP
· Head Northeast on S. Main Street and quickly turn right on Falls Avenue
· Follow Falls Avenue for 2.1 miles
· Turn right on Meandering Way
· The plant is at the end of the road
