The next Central Section of the Professional Wastewater Operators Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017, and hosted by the Town of Yadkinville WWTP in Yadkinville, NC. This is an open meeting, and you do not have to be a member to attend. Everyone is welcome. There will also be a gift card given to one lucky attendee, so don’t miss out. The lunch meeting and presentation will be held at:

Technical Session
The technical session is titled, “Choosing a Quality Contractor” and will focus on the importance of getting proper specifications for your project. The presentation will include a discussion of contractor qualifications, how to procure a specification, use of proper surface preparation standards and a case study on what can happen when a project is left to an unqualified contractor with no specification. Brian Huffman, NACE Level 3 Certified, SSPC Certified Concrete Coatings Inspector with The Sherwin Williams Company will present.

Town of Yadkinville Wastewater Treatment Plant 1620 Fred Hinshaw Road

The Town of Yadkinville Wastewater Treatment Plant entered service in 1960 with a capacity of 1 MGD. The plant was upgraded in 1998 bringing the capacity to 1.5 MGD. The facility is located on approximately 5 acres and consists of the following infrastructure: Automatic Bar Screen, Grit Classifier, Influent Lift Station, Oxidation Ditch, Aeration Basins, 3 Clarifiers, Chlorine Contact Chamber, Dechlorination Chamber, Effluent Lift Station, and 2 Digesters. The plant also has a Chlorine and Sulfur Dioxide handling facility. The effluent flow from the plant is discharged into North Deep Creek.
