Work Zone Traffic Control for Supervisors (8:00 am-5:00 pm)
This course will cover the critical guidelines and regulations required for the safe implementation of work zone temporary traffic control. Any utility operation that results in the potential exposure of workers to traffic and/or results in the disruption of routine traffic flow requires work zone temporary traffic control. Planning and implementation of the work zone set-up requires knowledge of the regulations and practices of State and Federal agencies. This course will use resources, classroom instruction, and hands-on exercises to teach the regulations, methods, and practices of planning and implementing work zone temporary traffic control. This course will utilize NC Department of Transportation (NC DOT) and Manual of Uniform Traffic Control (MUTC) materials. This course does not provide NC DOT certification.
Who should attend: Persons who are or may become responsible for the planning and design of temporary traffic control measures for utility work zones.
Public Speaking 1 (8:00 am- 12:00 pm)
Course Description: Communication skills are a vital part of any organization. This communication includes verbal (i.e. sounds and words) and nonverbal (i.e. facial expressions, gestures, eye contact, posture, and tone of voice) components. This interactive session will help participants identify their strengths and weaknesses. Participants will leave with tips on how to transform their weaknesses into opportunities for personal and professional growth.
