Award
AWWA’s The Water Equation Campaign and NC One Water will award up to two (2) One AWWA Operator Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each.
The scholarship can be used for certification or licensure, a two-year or four-year water-related degree, technical school program, professional training program, books and manuals, and operator-related conferences.
Each scholarship recipient will receive a one-year AWWA Operator membership.
Scholarship History
The One AWWA Operator Scholarship is funded through the support of AWWA’s The Water Equation Campaign and NC One Water.
Eligibility Guidelines
- Applicant must be a current water operator or seeking to enter the water operator profession.
- Applicant must reside or work within the geographical boundaries covered by NC One Water.
- Applicant must be pursuing an Operator’s License or Certification, two-year or four-year degree related to the water operator profession, or other related professional development.
- Disbursement of the funds will be made directly by NC One Water to the recipient.
- Items such as books, manuals, conferences, professional development courses, and other eligible expenses will be reimbursed to the recipient.
- The recipient will be required to submit receipt(s) by Dec. 31, 2022, showing the expenses for which the scholarship was applied.
- Acceptance of the scholarship constitutes permission to use the recipient’s name and scholarship story for the purpose of promotion.

All required forms, listed below, must be uploaded through the online system no later than June 1, 2024.
Resumé
Provide a current copy of your resumé.
Essay
Describe your career objectives and how this scholarship will enhance your professional development and bring value to the water industry. This can be written or in a short video format.
Letters of Recommendation
Provide two letters of recommendation or reference.
Additional Notes
Please do not submit any additional materials with your application. Materials that are not requested will not be reviewed nor will they be returned to you.
Notification letters will be mailed to all applicants by July 1, 2024.
